ABOUT ME

Two cousins, full of life and fun, traveling overland from Ushuaia, Argentina, the most Southern city in the world, to Fairbanks, Alaska, where the Pan American Highway ends 48,000 kilometers later. We have both traveled extensively before but this is our first time traveling together. Our goals? To stop being tourists and start tasting and living the real, local culture of the countries we cross! We would like to try and get off the "gringo trail" as much as possible!

PHILOSOPHY

We both have the same positive attitude and enjoy the many different experiences that life throws our way, be them good, bad or ugly! We believe in karma, and more so what you give in your life you get back, especially when it comes to mother Earth! We like to make others smile!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We fully intend to open up our couches and our love of travel to other couch surfers as soon as we return home.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Sharing a mattress in a tent with a local Maori tribe on the sacred waters of Waitangi Bay in North Island New Zealand before partaking in a sacred healing ceremony!

Interests

Music - gigs, listening, playing! Music is very important to us! A day without music is a black and white sunset!
Outdoors - camping under the stars & swimming under waterfalls!
Sports - snowboarding, skiing, rafting, anything extreme!
Water Sports - windsurfing, kitesurfing, sailing, snorkeling, diving, splashing about in big waves!
Relaxing - yoga, cooking for others & having a good auld drinking and dancing session!
Pachamama - being green, recycling, veganism, trying to live the pura vida

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies - Garden State, Life is Beautiful, anything by Darren Aronofsky and modern foreign films. I studied film studies at university so love movies, watching, writing, directing, even mucking about with the camera!

Music - Radiohead, Muse, Beatles, Kila, and everyone in between! Anything with a funky beat for our dancing feet!

Books - A Thousand Splendid Suns, We Need To Talk About Kevin, Trinity, Whatever we can find in the book exchange!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Kathryn - While in Uluwatu, Bali, watched a local Balinese village dance around a raging ring of fire with the most stunning sunset as the natural back drop!

Melanie - Slept in a tent with a Maori tribe, including the chief of all North Island Maori tribes, before being blessed and healed in the sacred waters under the full moonlight in New Zealand, then being formally welcomed as a member of their tribe and to be a traveling Ambassador for their plight!

Teach, Learn, Share

We want to learn local lingo Castellano! and how to cook regional dishes!

Kathryn is a trained and practiced sports massage therapist and knows all the tricks of the trade to make your body feel the best it can be!

Melanie is a trained and practiced water sports instructor, snow boarder and drama teacher and would love to teach others these activities if interested!
