PHILOSOPHY

"that moth which is my soul is making an annoying, dry sound as it flutters and flutters under its bell jar, where it has been so long trapped by this backbreaking book. when the book is finally done my soul will fly arrow-straight, boring at a thousand meters a second into some velvet vein of cool black night. thus refreshed it will commence to make barrel rolls and freedom polygonic, polytechnic, Polynesian, pyrotechnic, wheelies and helics and madcap whorls, scrawling VICTORY! in four hundred languages all over the bat-black night, and rewiring all the constellations, connecting all the million -million dots to form all the fantasies ever fantasized. and with the air sizzling past its finally free-to-fly, free-to-breathe, free-to-envelop wings, it will spin and leap and fire dance out past the fringes of all pent up dreams until it reaches the very edge of its universe, where it will stand with wings trembling and there...sing its goddamn heart out."
