CURRENT MISSION
On life's continual travel path...even when in Oxford
ABOUT ME
My 20s were a blast and yet somehow now I have slipped into my 30s without really noticing it. Anyway, I have travelling on/off for years, visiting almost 40 countries along the way. Some of the most interesting I have been to are Bosnia, Romania and maybe Japan. I have lived on/off in Poland for almost 18 months and spent 3 months upwards in Japan and selected parts of Asia. During my time in Warsaw I also spent a long time getting to know the back streets of Warsaw while immersed in online radio, pdocasting and teaching English. I also spent a year in Italy drinking good wine and supposedly improving my Italian, but that seems like ages ago. Travelling has been my greatest life experience and I have loved almost every minute of it.
I am a writer and have written 4 novels. I am still trying to get even one published, but this is proving to be a long and arduous process, I am still trying, going to crack this one. They do say that you become a better writer when you grow older, so maybe I am still too young. Anyway, I did the TEFL thing to finance myself along the way, dabbled in radio too, worked in PR for social housing for a while and for the last two/three years I have had my PR dream...okay emotionally v.fulfilling, financially, hmm, slightly less so!
I am based in Oxford, trying my best to enjoy it, ups and downs. The centre is magical and like a film set, especially when the sun is out. The parks are also cool, as are the pubs, enough said really.
At the moment I also have my own PR empire. It supports artists, creative projects and businesses/organisations that I believe in (yes, they can be found). I am passionate about it and I get a real buzz from helping artists. I am also hoping to expand the concept into my own cafe, gallery and art space too. If you are interested check out www.mannequinpr.co.uk or Mannequin PR on facebook :)
PHILOSOPHY
Life is an experience and you only have so long...the travelling I have done has been my greatest education and the people I have met have helped me to realise just how good life can be...CARPE DIEM

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Couchsurfing is such a simple concept but the fact that there are like minded people out there who want to share their knowledge of where they live makes it really work. My introduction to it was 16 days surfing some of the best couches in Belgium back in August 2006, great. I had an amazing time thanks to the great people I met, their hospitality, fine conversation, and the fact that they were able to put up with me ;)
Interessi
I am interested in life, the ups and downs, not just the mundane middle section. Overall though I just love life: the joys of meeting new people, that bizarre and unexpected moment that makes you feel alive, good food/music/company, and of course TRAVELLING :)

Musica, film e libri
It is very hard to have favourites but I will have a go. Films that touched me at time include Closer, Magnolia, Apocalypse Now and The Doors (I have to admit I love Jim Morrison and The Doors music). I love independent film, especially film which actually explores real life rather than the limitations of Hollywood. Books, well, I am writer, and I appreciate anything where the author has created his own world so William Boyd, Haruki Murakami, David Mitchell and Iain Banks all are firm favourites.
Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto
When I was in the Bulgarian mountains a few years ago I ran into an odd couple, a tall priest and a little guy dressed in hunting clothes. After much raki drunk, eating fat on bread? and much talking, we did the Bulgarian initiation: something to do with shooting a gun out of the window...true story
Insegna, impara, condividi
If you are travelling and every really do not know where to go, just relax, check out the place and find a suitable cafe. Sit down, scope the place out and then find a suitable waiter/waitress to ask about the local 'scene'...should work, if not, well, just try the next place :)
