In spite of the insanity and violence happening on our planet now, I do believe humanity can and will move into a new way of being on the earth, relating to each other and to all life. I live with this perspective, and it helps keep me alive, laughing, open.

a few couchsurfers have contacted me for "coffee or drink" and I've been happy to meet them here in L.A. ... I traveled in Israel and stayed with couchsurfers there and had a great experience ...

Interests

I do creative writing with at-risk youth ... did that work for seven years at a drop-in center for homeless women ... I love seeing people's self-expression and creativity come alive ... I love nature, live in California which is an amazing state (ocean, mountains, desert) ... I love music -- classic jazz (Coltrane) and jazzy-soulful kinds of world music, from Brazil, Mali, the Middle East -- all over! .... I highly recommend the DVD (and related YouTube clips) "Playing for Change" by filmmaker Mark Johnson, who traveled around the world and recorded people globally and put their playing and singing together into one musical piece. The faces of the musicians as well as their thoughts and of course their music are amazing.
