Overview
About Me
I am a musician and composer from Philadelphia. When I travel these days, it's usually for gigs but sometimes I get the chance to travel for adventure and inspiration too. I play lots of different music from all over the world, including Brazil (where I lived from 2010-2016), the Balkans and Turkey, as well as my own music. I studied philosophy and literature, and am lucky to collaborate from time to time on theater and dance works with Philadelphia artists.
I live with my wife, Ariadne (also a long-time Couchsurfer) and our son, Miguel. We live in Langhorne, a historical small town just outside of Philadelphia.
I am fascinated by process, not outcomes. When I talk with people, I ask lots of questions. I like experiences that complicate the commonplace and call forth what is usually silent. Disorientation through absurdity is the greatest joy, and that's what I seek when I travel.
PHILOSOPHY
Still, there's a lot of fun to be had in the gaps between ideas.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I was very active on Couchsurfing from 2005 to 2015. Just getting back into it in 2020.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've had so many fantastic guests, each incredible in their own way. I've learned a lot about the world and even my own country - so many opinions about the U.S. of course. I've met great CSers in their town too, and they've all enriched my travels immensely, showing be the best out-of-the-way restaurants, nightlife, and giving me a feel about what life feels like around the world.

Bach, Brahms, Shostokovich, Mahler, Osvaldo Golijov, rootsy, intense swinging jazz, and some of the new 'world jazz,' old school punk (Buzzcocks are the best), reggae (Prince Buster is #1) most of the music in the world.
Wallace Stevens, Whitman, Emerson, WC Williams, Roethke, Ashbery, Bukowski, many etceteras.
Why not paintings? Dances? Sculptures? Happenings? Installations? I like many of these too.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Let myself go.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm a musician and so know about all sorts of music. I studied literature, philosophy, and aesthetics, and still think, even write about these things. I'm fascinated by history, languages, idiosynchrasies, politics, science, and art, and am always ready to learn more.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Our home is in a small, quiet historical town. Kinda sleepy around here. There are large parks closeby, but you'll want to catch a ride to most things. The train to Philly is a 15-20 min walk.
We are Ariadne (my wife), Miguel (my son) and Bidú (a small dog). We can offer an air mattress in an upstairs room. or a futon in a downstairs room. Both rooms double as offices, so we'll figure out which is the most practical arrangement. We've got sheets and towels, laundry machine and dryer, and so forth. We expect to have shared meals and conversations with our guests.
