Seeing the world around us and hearing people's tales. Working out why people are the way they are. Listening to and appreciating music. Throwing myself round the dancefloor to obscure and much-loved indie, rock and folk tracks, and belting out the lyrics at top volume but not particularly tunefully! Camping with friends. Hunting out bargains and rarities in shops, and talking as we go. Laughing at silly clothes in the high street stores. Having quiet evenings in playing board games. Reading a mixture of challenging and easy texts, for no purpose other than that I enjoy them. Going out for meals with lots of people or one person. Drinking till late (on weekends, due to the job!!). Reading travel books and dreaming. Doing a small amount of sport to make myself feel better. Hearing proverbs and sayings in different languages. Walking around forests and towns in equal measure. Deep and meaningful chats to get to know others - and silly flippant chats just the same. And all the time, laughing. Lots and lots of laughing at the big and the small things in life.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

I wrote this listening to 'This is the Sea' by the Waterboys. Also love 'Fisherman's Blues' too. Crikey, lots and LOTS more. 'Lola' by the Kinks is an all time fave. 'With or without you' by U2 makes me cry. 'Mile End' and 'This is Hardcore' by Pulp for their fabulous dirtiness. Feist, Regina Spektor and Die Kleingeldprinzessin for their beautiful voices. 'Killing in the name' by ROTM because I shouldn't like it. 'Ruby don't take your love to town' by Kenny Rogers for the memories. 'Mr Blue Sky' for its optimism/encouragement (why did you hide away for so long?)Lots of Belle and Sebastian for being so damn good to dance to! 'Pounding' by Doves for the way it made my friend Paul lose all inhibitions to the gods of the Dorchester Arms dance floor. And many, many more.

I would share my friends with you - one of my favourite things I love the most is when my friends from different 'spheres' of life meet and get on, and then start hanging around together independently of me. I love that.
