ABOUT ME
I'm pretty bad at the internets [sic], but I'll do my best here. My friends tell me I'm old-fashioned sometimes, which is why I'm so technologically-impaired. But I'm willing to try new things and couch-surfing has been a great way to meet new people and learn from them and their experiences. Here is a list of things that I like: eye contact, singing, saying hello on the street, making things with my hands, drinking surprisingly large quantities of tea. Things I don't like: zombie movies, when people are unnecessarily rude, giant shopping malls lots and lots of television. One thing that I have found to help in life is giving people the benefit of the doubt.
PHILOSOPHY
If, by the time that I die, I have the same sense of wonder and curiosity regarding the world around me that I had as a five-year-old, I will consider myself to have lived a successful life.
Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I currently live with 3 other folks in a small-ish house in Keene, so hosting isn't very common with me these days. But ask anyway! At any rate, I'm very open to showing folks around town or getting together with other CSers in the area.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I surfed coming and going on a cross-country move a couple years ago, and it was a great experience. Since then, I hosted a bunch of people when I lived in Boise, and had a wonderful time doing it. My house also hosted a monthly potluck there, which was a lovely way to get to know the community there in town. Since I moved back to New England, I haven't hosted anyone, but I've been mostly in communal housing with lots and lots of folks. So many good things have come from CSing: got to have some really good conversations, share stories, eat delicious food, feed other people delicious food, make friends...It just generally renews your faith in the world.

Musik, Filme und Bücher
This is a hard section to fill out. I love John Steinbeck--all of his stuff is great, but East of Eden and Cannery Row are especially close to my heart. Wendell Berry is also great and thought-provoking. I'm currently reading a wonderful book called "Enduring Roots: Encounters with Trees, History, and the American Landscape." It's by Gayle Brandow Samuels. A few of my favorite movies are Braveheart and The Princess Bride. As for music, I like a pretty wide range of stuff. Folk, blues, indie-rock, old country, and, very recently, I discovered that I am addicted to The Clash. I can't seem to stop listening to them.
Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe
I've hiked to the top of a rugged mountain pass in New Zealand in the midst of intense cloud cover, flying rain, and some snow, only to find, when I reached the top, that the clouds parted to reveal the valley below with a rainbow arching over the steep green walls and the river cradled between them.
Lehren, lernen, teilen
I can bake some good bread, and love teaching other people--it's WAY easier than you think! I card and spin wool into yarn. I'm not a terribly advanced knitter, but I'm willing to teach folks how to spin, which can be a wonderfully relaxing experience. I can also tell you lots of things about roller derby and loan you my skates.
