Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

i was worried at first about my first time as a couchsurfer, not as a host. I had hosted several times, but had never been the guest when I arrived in London. I had plans to only stay for a day at my host's place but he ended up inviting me for the whole week! he told me where to wander, and also invited me to his work where he treated me to a drink and a lovely time. it was a wonderful welcome to this organization!

Interests

i'm interested in the kind of place where music fills the streets.

  • wine
  • cheese

Music, Movies, and Books

the straight story, time bandits, royal tenenbaums, donnie darko, dog day afternoon, loneliness of the long distance runner, julie doiron, bedhead, sparklehorse, wilco, will oldham, the kinks, califone, Madame Bovary, St. Petersburg, Kosmos, Midnight's Children, a Heart Breaking Work of Staggering Genius.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

On a Romania-bound train, in the heat of summer, I danced barefoot to the songs of a four-piece Hungarian folk band (complete with double bass) that struck up in the compartment next to mine and turned down both the moonshine and marriage proposal of a wizened old, gold-toothed sheep herder.

Teach, Learn, Share

Krakow, Poland: Go close to a holiday. They serve hot, spiced wine in the main squares and sell cheese in the streets.
Prague: Don't go during an ice storm. It's hard to get around. Also, it's a prettier place at 5a.m.
Melbourne: Get out of fhe city and ramble the Dandenong mountains. It's worth the drive!
Montreal The junk shops are the best. And the bagels too. And the people are beautiful.

Countries I’ve Visited
