About Me

I'm very laid back, very open and I always see the funny side of things. I believe in always being postive, not judging anyone or anything, getting the most out of everything you do, regretting nothing and travelling as much as you can, meeting people and finding out their quirks.

For the past few years, I've worked several different freelance jobs: as tour manager for archaeological holidays, managing groups of people on tours of China, Mexico, Albania and more. I also work at music festivals every summer in the UK and Europe as an Artist Liaison manager, looking after the needs and whims of the acts. I also work as a freelance writer, mostly focussing on travel/lifestyle/music/arts, but trying to move towards journalism.

I just completed a MSc in Media, Communications and International Journalism in Glasgow and am preparing to go to Brussels for a journalism traineeship in the European Parliament.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For me, travelling is about much more than seeing the tourist sights (I often actively avoid them). I'd much rather see a place through the eyes of people that live there. I like travelling by myself but I like making new connections even more.

I've stayed with several couch-surfers and each one has been a thoroughly different and thoroughly enjoyable experience. I've also hosted, but mostly through the cycle touring version of Couchsurfing (Warm Showers).

Interests

cycling, dancing, cooking, exploring, listening, playing, laughing, talking, walking, reading, writing, learning, watching, thinking, drinking, being outdoors, partying, relaxing, late nights, early mornings, meeting new people, seeing old friends and realising time and again just how small this world is.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - I like all types of music, listening to it at home and going to gigs, clubs and festivals. I go to lots of festivals - I love spending time outdoors, dancing, seeing old friends and making new ones.

I love to read but don't do enough of it these days.. not sure why. Got so many favourite books but ones that I'd class as life-changing are: Jack Kerouac - On the Road and Philip Pullman - The Northern Lights Trilogy
