Being ‘mineiro’

To be a ‘mineiro’ is not to tell what you do, neither what you are going to do. To pretend that you don’t know what you do know, to talk less and listen more, to look like a fool, being intelligent, to sell cheese and own banks.
A fine ‘mineiro’ doesn’t rope a bull with a weak tie, doesn’t trip the wind up, doesn’t march in the dark, doesn’t walk in wet floor and doesn’t make longer conversation with a stranger. Only believes on the smoke once witnesses the fire, only takes the risk when he’s sure, doesn’t change a bird in his hand for another flying two.
To be a ‘mineiro’ is to say “uai”... To be special. ‘Mineiros’ have trade mark and history.
Being ‘mineiro’ is to be simple and pure, humble and modest, to be courageous and brave, noble and elegant.
To be a ‘mineiro’ is to watch the sunrise as well as the moon glow, to listen to the singing birds and the mooing of the cattle, to feel the awakening of time and the daybreak of life.
Being ‘mineiro’ is to be religious and traditional, to promote the arts and literature, being a poet and erudite. It’s to be fond of politics and love freedom, to live in the highlands, to have an interior life and to be a human being.
