About Me

It's important for me to live an authentic life, true to my nature which is curious, calm, colorful and creative. Enjoying the small things in life and trying to find beauty in everything around me... I like meeting new people, exploring new cultures and places, enjoying food and a good conversation.

I live with my cat Flo in a colorful apartment in Berchem, a lovely multicultural neighborhood of my hometown Antwerp. I like biking around in the city and exploring little pockets of nature out there.

I follow my feet where they lead me, I am confident my heart will know the right way. I'm in a long-term process of growing as a woman and as a person, and to actively make space for connection, spirituality and reflection in my life. Basically, I'm trying to figure everything out as I go along :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've been travelling for more than 10 years and have been to all continents, and it really has enriched and shaped my life. I've also been on Couchsurfing for more than 10 years, with mostly experiences in Europe, but it is sustainable travel in one of its most pure forms, in my opinion!

I love my job as Project Manager in Sustainable Tourism, believing that travelling can be a powerful tool for sustainable development and increased tolerance and understanding between cultures. It's a big part of my life and I try to actively contribute to making this happen!

Interests

I like chilling out and being creative, I write, weave, do crafts, garden and like to cook... I try to incorporate yoga and meditation in my daily life. And I try to live sustainably, with special interest in sustainable travel, urban farming and circular economy. When traveling, I like to go camping, love roadtrips, enjoy doing homestays, cooking classes or original guided tours.

I'm active as a volunteer in different projects, such as one where we bring connection and peace in Karamoja, Uganda, gardening on an urban rooftop farm on a circular site in Antwerp. I'm also busy trying to get together a collection of poems and I used to direct theatre plays.

Music, Movies, and Books

Let's talk about it when we meet! :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived in a car for a few months while crossing the USA and Canada.
Hitchhiked to Paris and stayed at the Shakespeare and Company bookshop for a while.
Tracked chimpanzees in the jungle of Uganda.
Became part of a family in California, under the redwood trees.
Slept on the floor in family's houses in a mountain village in Morocco.
Took care of old and disable elephants and lived among them in Thailand.
Lived in a house truck and worked on a permaculture farm of a hippie family in New Zealand.
Trained mountain guides in Malawi.
Did a Vipassana silent meditation retreat.
Celebrated New Year's among Buddhist zen monks in a monastery.
Exchanged stories around the fire with warrior nomads in Uganda.
Got blessed by an indigenous shaman in Brazil.

Let's swap more stories when we meet, okay? :)

Teach, Learn, Share

Oh, I'm curious about lots of things. Teach me whatever you're good at, I still have a lot to learn, I basically don't know anything! I'm a jack-of-all-trades, a creative generalist, with few clear skills, but who knows which knowledge I could enrich you with :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good stories and good company! And I'm happy to bring a nice bottle of wine or prepare you a meal.
