About Me

I live in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City with my partner, Nimra, and our cat, Lil' Man.

Hosting travelers and being hosted by others while I am a traveler is one of my very favorite things to do, whether through CS or some other avenue of my life. In a way I try to live to travel, and as such I find it useful to try and approach life in my own city as if i were there traveling, trying to get the best feel for the place as i can, whenever i can get myself away from work and other obligations.

I enjoy living in a multicultural city and find it very rewarding to travel abroad or to other parts of the U.S. and meet people who live in different ways than i am used to, but with whom I still connect.

I am from Texas and have lived in DFW, Austin, Houston, and Washington D.C. All are great cities that should definitely be explored. I currently live in New York City where I hope to host and meet many more wonderful CSers.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When i have a home of my own i host anyone i am able to. If I am not able, I still like to meet up for sightseeing, food, or drinks... or all three.

I have stayed with a number of fantastic hosts in the past, but more recently i have been staying in other accommodations but meeting up with CS folks for sightseeing, food, drinks, etc.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have stayed with hosts and also spent a good deal of time with really cool people in various countries across Europe and Latin America. I have also stayed with hosts in a few different cities across the US. I have attended several CS meet-ups in Houston that have always been fun.

Most of the people i hosted through CS were at my place in Austin while i was in graduate school, but i still have hosted a good number in Houston as well.

Interests

I am a botanist by education and do related things as a profession. I enjoy the outdoors and the natural world. I also enjoy history and politics. Some of my favorite CS experiences have been others sharing their views with me and explaining what life is like in their home countries. I think this one of the real values in CS that can make the world a better place.

I enjoy music, especially if of a genre that is new to me. I play guitar and dabble a little with some other stuff.

I speak some Spanish (enough to get into and then hopefully stay out of trouble while traveling). Im by no means fluent but it has been enough to travel freely in Spanish-speaking countries. I also am a student of Urdu as a hobby.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to learn other peoples' outlooks on life. I would be happy to share mine with you as well.

I love to share my city with anyone i host, and i love to have someone else share their home with me in return.
