PHILOSOPHY

We're not here for long. We should try and preserve a livable planet for the next generation. Resist the worst excesses of consumerist neoliberal capitalism. Encourage all forms of social relations that are non-competitive and not based on profit. If you're not pissed off, you're not paying attention. Be the change you want to see in the world. Bring what you would expect to find. If not you, who? If not now, when? In order to have free minds, we must have free TEA!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I put up couch surfers before becoming a member, when they were passed onto me. I have hosted friends' friends from around Europe and beyond. I have an issue with flying abroad due to carbon issues, but up for hosting people and who knows, one day I may have the time to hitch around all my friends across Europe.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couch surfing experiences? Well, I was 'homeless' from some time in 1992 I think, until 1995..slept on couches, spare beds, floors, treehouses, benders, on a door suspended from a branch, on a fridge door wedged in tree branches, in tents, yurts, in the open, in fields and woods, under concrete car parks, in squats... but mostly within the UK. I hitched all over. I'm happy to return the good karma and generosity I received in all that time and since. I've not done much travelling to be honest, and don't see how I can fly without feeling like a total hypocrite. The south-east corner of Spain, the deep south of Hungary, and now Sweden and Finland are the furthest I've strayed from home (oh, I forgot a flight to Washington DC and then getting stuck by the Icelandic volcano eruption - Mother Earth's revenge)...

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I was a full time treehugging eco-warrior in the anti-roads campaigns of the 1990s, living outdoors with very little money, trying to stop destruction of homes and nature for quicker commuting time. Nothing else has compared to that really. I travelled all over the UK in that time and did some amazing things.
