About Me
CURRENT MISSION
seeking beauty in the overcast
ABOUT ME
I'm a librarian at a small liberal arts university. Of course, this is simply one of the myriad ways you could describe me. Which, of course, is just like everyone else. We all have these different roles - so there is the professional side (with an interest in intellectual property) along with a teaching side (Japanese culture). At the same time I'm a father of two girls, a volunteer, a poet of sorts, lover of music, and more.
PHILOSOPHY
Of late, some quotes that resonate
"Service is the rent we pay for living"
"Use the commonplace to escape the commonplace."
"Refinement and dignity are taught by the heart, not the dancing master."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've participated multiple ways - traveled, hosted, and hung out with the local CS community. Have really loved all facets of CS- good, good folk.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've had wonderful experiences with couchsurfing. There are two ways that I've enjoyed it- there are local meetups that are fun way to meet people in your community and learn about things going on that you never knew existed. And, of course, there is the travel and hosting. I've meet some great people both ways, and found new friends in the process.

Music, Movies, and Books
Yes!Music - lots of stuff. I was a metal head back in the day and still like a lot of old metal bands. But I also played trumpet back in the day and have an appreciation for Jazz. I've developed an interest in techno and dance too. General favorites would be Kate Bush, Aerosmith, Accept, Anita Oday, Modest Mouse, Eyereel Allstars, PJ Harvey, September..... it goes on and on
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Before there was couchsurfing official, I traveled around India and stayed with a friend's family in a number of different cities.
