About Me

RULES FOR SENDING A COUCH REQUEST

Please consider that I am letting strangers into my home, so it is of utmost importance that you follow these simple instructions when sending a request.

1. At least part of your message shouldn't be copy-pasted.

2. If there are more than one of you in the request, include the profiles of the others. If the others don't have profiles, create them! Again, I'm letting strangers into my home, so this helps me get to know you better before we meet.

3. If you don't have a full profile or any references, include some other way for me to find out about you. Remember, your profile is the only way hosts can decide to let a stranger into their home.

4. To make sure you've read this, I need you to include the word "wanderlust" in your message.

As for me, I'm a media professional and pretty avid amateur runner. Most of my time is spent traveling the US (Texas, Southeast and some Midwest) for work, running, and going out (and occasionally golfing). I have lived all over the United States and briefly abroad (Argentina), so my perspective of the world has been shaped by many different influences. I'm a huge wine drinker (red here) and I love going out dancing. But most importantly, I love taking advantage of the weather and being outside in what is now the favorite city I've ever lived in or visited, MIAMI.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have an extra room and I was going to do Airbnb to meet people and make a little money on the side, but my condo's management company scours the paid sites vigorously since they don't allow subletting. So, I figured why not post it for free? Also, I travel a lot for work and a friend told me this might be a good tool to meet people in the cities I travel to for work (and pleasure). And finally, I realized when I made this profile that I've traveled a lot of places, but I need to get out there and see some more. Hopefully Couchsurfing can help out!

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: The Pillars of the Earth, The Believing Brain
Movies: Shawshank Redemption, Dumb and Dumber
Music: Anything by the following labels...Anjunadeep and All Day I Dream. I love underground electronic music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to Burning Man...that was awesome. Everyone should do it once. I also survived an emergency splenectomy while traveling alone in Perú. That was interesting. I've also played Water Polo with a Russian high school Water Polo team on the beach in Montenegro.

Teach, Learn, Share

Admittedly lifted these, but I fully believe in them:

It’s okay to trade the possibility of your 80s and 90s for more guaranteed fun in your 20s and 30s.
When the bartender asks, you should already know what you want to drink.
Tip more than you should.
Act like you’ve been there before. It doesn’t matter if it’s in the end zone at the Super Bowl or on a private plane.
A glass of wine or two with lunch will not ruin your day.

No selfies. Aspire to experience photo-worthy moments in the company of a beautiful woman.
Ask for a salad instead of fries.

Be spontaneous.

Throw parties.
Always bring a bottle of something to the party.

You should never request a song from the DJ.

Drink outdoors.
 And during the day.
 And sometimes by yourself.
Start a wine collection for your kids when they are born. Add a few cases every year without telling them. It’ll make a phenomenal gift in twenty years.
Staying angry is a waste of energy.

Remember, “rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men.”
