About Me

Hello fellow couch surfers and hosts its me, Andres! I created this account about 7 years ago when I was studying abroad in Japan and find myself coming back to it 7 years later as later this year I'm going to Japan! I am pretty much a free spirit, and always down for the cause. Read my references if you want to know more about me! The only thing that's changed since then is my hairstyle lol!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm going to be traveling to Japan for 3 weeks with intent of having an awesome birthday bash in Kyoto, and rekindling my love for the country. One of the big things on my heart is writing a book urging people to turn their passerby "I want to go Japan," phrases into actionable plans to actually get them there! I will also be making stops in Ohau and Kauai Hawaii! Please host me and teach me your unique way of seeing the world as well!

Interests

I love writing. I also love working. Among other things; Muay Thai, Brazilian jijitsu, drinking coffee, karaoke, cycling, studying Japanese, talking to strangers, toastmasters, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Im not going to update this section so, Ill just share my first encounter with couch surfing. So it was new years and I was going clubbing with some of my friends. These two girls named Haru and Isa. I show up and after saying hello they immediately hit me with a "hey andres we want to go to this couch surfing drinking party but they are all foreigners and were really shy, could you be the ice breaker for us?" After me asking if that was the only reason they invited me Haru responded with " No its only one of the reasons." I agreed after questioning our friendship jokingly and we went to this drinking party. We stroll up to 3 full tables of foreigners, im wearing my bad ass Chinese kimono and say in a loud voice so everyone could hear me "I have arrived, with a dragon on my back!" I did not break the ice I obliterated it! After that I introduced my friends into the group and we all split up talking to different people. Everyone was really cool and after introductions we all had a great time. Isa was really shy so I introduced her to this Japanese guy I met because she could not speak English. So after the drinking party was over Isa was hungry and wanted to go eat dinner before clubbing. However she told me that the guy had self invited himself. We climbed the stairs to get outside I looked at Isa and asked her if she really wanted the guy to come. She gave me the universal shake of the head, so me with 2 beers in my system grabbed both isa and harus hand and ran the hell out of there. The thrill of the great escape plus an abundant amount of laughter plus beer made this a really random awesome experience!

Teach, Learn, Share

I actually know very little about anything, but of the things I do know something about I'm very passionate. I can teach you how to play piano, I can share my unique worldview accumulated over the past 5 years since the last time I travelled abroad, and finally I am willing to learn from your perspective.
