ABOUT ME

I grew up in northern California, and have lived (apart from a stint in Bolivia) in various parts of the Bay Area my entire life. I spend my weekends cooking elaborate meals (I love experimenting with new cuisines and ingredients), hiking the hills around our home, and looking for the (very elusive) night sky in the Bay Area. I'm a fan of hole-in-the-wall restaurants, bad puns, farmer's markets, collage projects and knitting hats, and naming ducks.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfing has been an amazing tool to travel to new places and learn from neat folks. Some of my fondest memories - and most often-told stories from my travels - involve Couchsurfing escapades. This is such a wonderful community!

I've hosted a number of couchsurfers passing through the Bay Area (though competition for surfers is fierce here!) Highlights include homemade Austrian wine and an amazing salsa dancer.

I've couchsurfed for work (yeah non-profits!) around California and across Europe.

Interests

Exploring places through history, food, and architecture. Getting lost on buses and on bicycles, exploring new places, cooking and baking, reading + hot chocolate, experimenting with food, going to farmers markets and outdoor markets, hiking and backpacking, playing board games, exploring new places. Learning new languages and new alphabets.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watching a baby quail hatch at the California State fair. Rumble, rumble, rumble, rumble, crack, BOOM! Except over about an hour. Pretty fantastic.
