About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm Gloria from Zagreb, Croatia. I'm a Spanish teacher by profession, but actually I haven't been teaching for some time now. Instead, I started doing other things like cooking in different caterings, private homes and most recently, working as a chef on sailing boats on the Croatian coast. I love cooking for other people and observing them while they enjoy eating my food :-)

My other passions are music and dance: I was a choral director, I worked on different theater projects as a singer and vocal trainer and occasionally I do vocal workshops for non-singers and dance workshops.

Currently I'm studying to be an integrative body-oriented psychotherapist and I must say that embarking on that challenge was one of the best decisions I made in my life

For me travelling is something like a basic hygiene- you have to brush your teeth, you have to wash yourself, you have to exercise and occasionally you HAVE TO travel, otherwise your mind, body and soul get rusty and inflexible.

I started with the REAL travelling in my thirties and I really got hooked on it, so I always try to escape the winter here in Croatia and visit a place which is culturewise completely new to me. When traveling I like to combine spending time in urban places (cities) with visiting more remote places with natural surroundings.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like meeting new, local people who have a firsthand experience of the place and I like to learn new things, discover new music, new dishes, local expressions and urban legends. I tried traveling as a regular tourist (from one bed and breakfast to the other) but to be honest it was so boring that I really don't want to repeat it (ok, maybe when I'm 70). I know I also have a lot to share and to teach, so CS really makes sense for me.

Interests

Music,dance,music,dance, music,dance...

In Zagreb, I was leading a girl choir, and played in an African percussion band. I love different types of traditional music...listening to it, singing and playing it. I also do vocal workshops where I help people to release their full voice and I teach them traditional songs from all over the world.

Cooking, traveling and spending time with dear friends and family...doing creative and crazy stuff with people (like, for example, filming a zombie horror grape-picking movie, or just making up funny songs together)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I traveled alone in Morocco which gave me a perspective that there are different worlds then ours, and that differences should be deeply respected. Hitchhiking over 1000km one-way from Agadir to Dakhla.
