Overview
About Me
I'm a professional writer and editor, amateur musician, bookworm, lifelong learner, animal lover, and former Montessori teacher who still feels passionate about alternative education, even though I've stepped away from it (for now). For 2020, one of my goals is to add "activist" to that list; I'm very interested in left politics, but I've only been intermittently involved with it in recent years. I'm a soft-spoken, easygoing, mellow, and calm guest/host/person.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I recently joined the site to meet up with a group of couch surfers who were gathering for New Year's Eve in Seville. I had a really good time with them — there were so many nice, interesting, intelligent, and open-minded people from so many different backgrounds, and I loved learning about their stories, travels, lives, and places of origin, while sharing the night together, exploring the city, and enjoying a sense of international comradery.
Combined with the fact that I have a spare bedroom that isn't doing the world any good right now, the experience convinced me that I should become a member of the Couchsurfing community. I'd also like to start traveling more. I've been living in Europe for a while now, but I haven't taken anywhere near as much advantage of that fact as I could.

Music, Movies, and Books
Indie/alternative music: Iron and Wine, Belle and Sebastian, Bon Iver, Big Thief, Radiohead, Beach House, The National, Yo La Tengo (to name just a few off the top of my head)
Classical music: Antonín Dvořák, Gabriel Fauré, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Dmitri Shostakovich
I'll come back to this for books and movies (too many to choose from!)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I finally taught my dog how to give the ball back when we play fetch. That felt like an accomplishment...
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm currently trying to learn more about what happened in Seville during the Spanish Civil War and identify/visit sites connected to that chapter of the city's history. Eventually, once I've learned enough, I'd like to offer a tour of the sites. In the meantime, I'd be happy to share whatever I find out!
