About Me
Live in Miami, try to travel as much as possible...hopefully more in the future
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm looking for opportunities to have more personal and local experiences when I travel. I love to immerse myself in local life and culture as much as possible.
Hopefully I will be able to host as soon as my living situation makes it possible! In the mean time, I would be happy to meet with travelers when they visit my hometown.
Interests
I am very passionate about language learning and language studies in general. I spend a lot of my free time learning and practicing foreign languages, which often overlaps with my other interests like music, film, history and of course travel. I enjoy delving into music, film, art scenes and traditions in different places.
Music, Movies, and Books
-Music-
I'm really into different international indie rock and hip hop scenes and artists, as well as traditional music styles...A lot of French/francophonie, Ibero & Latin American, Scandinavianin particular.
Some all time favorites spanning different times and genres include JM Serrat, Silvio Rodriguez, Chico Buarque, Françoise Hardy, Benjamin Biolay, The Delgados, Los Planetas, Anouar Brahem, Orishas, The Roots, Bohren & der Club of Gore, Dungen, Slowdive, Burial, Outkast, Stereolab, The Cinematic Orchestra, Charles Mingus, Can, The Kinks, Bruan Eno, Ty Segall could go on & on, but no one likes super long lists.
-Film-
Directors that I think are great include Krzysztof Kieslowski, Adolfo Aristarain, Richard Linklater, Andrei Tarkovsky, Fernando Leon de Aranoa, David Fincher Denis Villeneuve, Tomas Gutierrez Alea, Eric Rohmer, and many others
Some films that I have really enjoyed in recent years: Ex-Machina, The Lobster, Holy Motors, Mommy
Teach, Learn, Share
I have experience teaching English through volunteer programs in several different counties.
Even though I am far from a professional educator, I always enjoy helping people improve in one of the languages I speak, whether it be through casual conversation or a more structured lesson.
I am currently resuming my university studies in linguistics, so I hope to eventually enter a career related to languages.
