About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To find a boat and sail the Carribean, then across the Atlantic to France with my wonderful wife Sophie Falkman (also on CS). We were trying, and still, but it is getting cold, to build a log cabin on the side of a mountain in Asheville. At least that is what we were doing for the last 5 or 6 months. Our next expedition is about to begin in the Florida keys.

ABOUT ME

I am married to the most wonderful woman in the world. We want to buy a sailboat and sail throughout the Carribean islands and to the Mediterranean. North Carolina has a lot of beautiful coastline and so does Normandy, France. I surf, hike, bike, and generally enjoy being outdoors. My property is located high in the Applachian Mountains and includes a natural mountain spring that supplies water for drinking and everything else. I was trying to complete a treehouse Yurt before I traveled to California for work and met my new wife. Couches are a luxury for me and I am just as comfortable on the floor, in a hammock, or a tent. I like the website permies.com all about permiculture living.

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy is dynamic. Be free in you mind and spirit. Try to help those around you and improve the world as you travel through it by reducing hopelessness. I prefer optimism to realism. I like dreamers.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Sophie and I have been hosted by Herb Williams several times and also by Paul Davy. We have enjoyed the the very organic aspect of couch surfing even without the website by meeting beautiful souls wherever we travel. We love to hear and share stories.

Interests

Loving my wife everyday! Sharing wonderful dreams and stories. Creating a new paradigm for living. Sailing, hiking, building cabins and homes, farming. Creating things from scratch, including cement from limestone. Or silicon wafers from sand.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have been reading the Fountainhead by Ayn Rand for about a year. I describe it as a referendum against tradition by pursuing who and what you believe you are supposed to be. Before that I read Jon Ronson's Men Who Stare at Goats. Tucker Max, and the 4 hour work week.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Met Sophie and then hiked all over the national parks, backpacked in Mexico together, and enjoyed an all Champagne new year's party in France! Swam with a baby dolphin, surfed backdoors on Oahu, went to college at Hawaii Loa College near Kailua Hawaii, been in several earthquakes, firestorms, tornados.

Teach, Learn, Share

Thoughtful, open-minded, opinionated, creative, boisterous, crafts people, empowered.

We are a respectful couple that speak three languages and can offer our places to stay in Normandy, France, and North Carolina in the future.

Countries I’ve Visited
