About Me
Shalom!
I am super friendly, respectful and adventurous person who loves life and would love to hang out with you or even stay for a day or two. I recently quit my job as an English teacher to travel around Israel this summer. I just finished Taglit-Birtright and opted to stay an extra three weeks and learn as much about Israeli culture as possible. I also love learning new things, making new friends, and sharing music with others.
I am friendly, outgoing, respectful, clean, and travel light. I enjoy traveling, meeting new people, being excited and having fun. I love playing music and sharing too.
I have lived in cooperatives (similar to kibbutzim, but in the U.S.) for many years and love living and working alongside others.
My philosophy is that I will only live once, and so for me that is the reason why I excitedly get out of bed every morning-- to live and experience as much as I can.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love meeting people from all over the world! Nothing is better than doing so, learning new things about others, and sharing ideas! It is much much better than staying in a fancy hotel or hostel. I'd rather meet people from the local region than just other travelers. Similarly, when I travel, I don't care at all about seeing the famous/tourist sites-- I would much rather learn about where local people go, and how they live.
I also love hosting others, and I would love for you to come out to California and visit me and my friends too!
Interests
I am interested in music from around the world. I used to want to be an ethnomusicologist. Whenever I travel, I buy CDs from local artists, check out record stores, and share mixtapes with people I meet. I also play music (mainly guitar).
I also love photography and making videos. Also writing poetry and short stories, and hiking, and urban exploring, and drawing. I also take audio recordings of places I visit, and you could make some with me if you want.

Music, Movies, and Books
For music, i am into psychedelic, garage, electronic, dub, folk music, soul, punk, avant-garde, as well music from all over the world (Whenver I travel I collect albums and also take original audio recordings of stuff I hear).. i also like jazz and classical, and country too. but really, i want to discover new stuff from your country!
I am into cinema from all over the world, but of course i have a North American bias given i grew up there. i really like apocalypse now! by coppola, 8 1/2 by fellini, and breathless by godard.
Literature, I really like Murakami, Sartre, Kerouac (well used to), Henry Miller, The Brothers Karamazov, Lermontov's A Hero of our Time, Milan Kundera... I used to read a lot of philosophy, mainly Nietzsche :P
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Well.....
when I was younger, I was super overweight, and yet I still managed to run a half-marathon and eventually gained control of my weight. I hated running, but my dad offered me 100 dollars to join the afterschool running club. 100 USD doesn't sound like much, but when I was ten it was the lottery. It was a lot of work, but it taught me to take care of myself so yeah I am very grateful for it.
