S.P. Vijay Kumar’s insatiable passion for dancing since childhood, led him to the world of Bharatanatyam. He is truly blessed to have trained under the eminent and celebrated Gurus Sri. M.V. Narasimhachari and Smt. M. Vasanthalakshmi, in their institute Kalasamarpana Foundation, Chennai. In the following seven years, he had successfully completed the Natya Siromani course and performed his Arangetram. Since 2004 he has been spearheading ‘Kalpatharu,’ his own academy for Dance & Yoga.

Guru Vijay has completed in Masters in Dance from Annamalai University, Chidambaram and is currently pursuing a diploma in Kuchipudi. He also holds a Master’s degree in Population Studies, a Diploma in Naturopathy & Yogic Science, along with a 3-year Certificate in Tamil Isai.

He is an ‘A’ grade artist from Doordharshan and has performed for DD Podhigai, for Thaka Dhimi Tha in Jaya TV, N TV Rachana Television, Hyderabad, Natya Sangamam in Captain TV. His group presentation “Navarasa Ramayana” with his students, composed and choreographed by his Gurus, has won much acclaim. He has performed in many locations and also taught workshops around the world, including a one-year stint with Samskriti society for Indian Performing Arts in Houston. His performances at the prestigious Uday Shankar Festival, Kolkata; Iyyappa Seva Sangam, Jodhpur; APTDC Shilparamam, Tirupati; Dance Ballet on Dasavatharam, Mumbai; Indradanush Festival, New Delhi; Cultural shows, Assam; Mudra Festival, Thiruvananthapuram; Natarajostav, Mysore has brought him wide acclaim
