Hi! I'm Marija, student from Croatia, and soon to finish my education on faculty of Architecture. In between my studies and regular life I simply love to explore new places no matter the distance, it can be a new neighborhood or a city, doesn't matter. Routine is perfectly fine for me but I must break it down from time to time in order to make life more interesting. I recently also discovered a passion for hiking and since I'm in general quite active person that is a perfect combination of travel along with phisical activity. Besides hiking trips and nature, I love exploring new cities as well as trying out some good food on the way. Yes, food plays a huge role on my journeys and in my life and it just makes it even better.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I started using couchsurfing quite recently due to my current state of being a student on Erasmus exchange program. Since i would like to visit many countries and cities it can be a bit hard to manage it with a student scolarship. Besides that I would always prefer the experience of staying in someone's home and meet local people rather than artificial atmosphere of hostel.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music I enjoy usually consists of random songs which I pick up and start to enjoy, but some specific bands I love are R.E.M, Florence and the Machine, Death Cab for Cutie, Pink Floyd, The National... I love music festivals so sometimes I start to listen to band albums which I have never heard of before the festival. Considering movies it can be quite diverse, but I don't have a problem watching Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings multiple number of times. The movies I use reference from too often are Megamind and 21jump street. Not a great peace of art, but so much my type of humour in that one. I sometimes prefer to read books which I usually borrow from my mother who is a great book worm, and her taste includes scandinavian crime stories authors as well as classics such as Pride and prejudice. Still, fantasy and adventure has a great place in my heart so of course I read Harry Potter (again) and Game of Thrones.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Decided to go on Erasmus in Brno, Czech Republic, which led me to so many new experiences such as travelling to Stockolm without almost any kind of plan in advance.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to prepare a meal from random ingridients you posses in your fridge, and without the proper cooking equipment. It can be quite useful in various situations;)
Also, I am quite good at figure skating so if you happen to have a rink nearby I would be happy to give you some lessons on ice:)
