About Me

Student of English and Swedish, from Croatia, currently travelling att förbättra min svenska! I don't travel so often and I actually consider myself a pretty boring person, but then again people say I tend to be too humble about myself.

One thing that might be worth mentioning is that I am a passionate lover of animated shows and animated movies, despite and in spite of my age. It's also what inspired me to start drawing, and though I can paint too, I often find it takes too long (I honestly, to the bottom of my heart, admire artists who can do this all the time) and instead I prefer drawing existing characters and thinking of and sharing new ideas about them with likeminded people.

The most excting thing to happen to me this year is the UISS language course I'm currently at, in Uppsala, and I'm having the time of my life meeting different people from various cultures, all of us with the common goal of learning Swedish and enjoying finding out Swedish traditions and lifestyle.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

So I'm currently learning Swedish at a language course in Uppsala, and then I'm volunteering across Sweden to get in some more language practice that way. HOWEVER, the course ends July 7th, and my first volunteering job begins July 17th, so I have 10 days that I can't really spend in hostels because I have little money to waste. Then I was recommended this site by a teacher and now I'm here, hoping someone might lend me their couch for a day or two. Whatever suits you better :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I don't really have a preference, I just like music that can inspire me, either to make me build a story in my head, let my thoughts drift away or fire me up with whatever I'm drawing. Usually that is alternative or punk rock, motivational beats or emotional/relaxing/epic classical music.

Movies: animated movies, because I really like observing the wonders of animation, the poses, movements, drawing techniques and details, as well as learning from them to incorporate in my own drawings. I also like observing how cartoons try to walk the line between what is considered adult and children appropriate content and how serious topics are dealt with.

To be more specific, my favorite is How to Train Your Dragon 1&2, but I also like all other things Disney and Dreamworks, sometimes others, as well as series like Gravity Falls, Danny Phantom, Voltron LD, Miraculous Ladybug, anime and such. If I don't know a cartoon, it's probably because I haven't had the time to get into it yet.

Books: Harry Potter and all kinds of fanfiction. Hey, we all have our vices, mine just wastes time and eyesight instead of lungs or liver :P

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Gotten accidentally left behind in Oxford at 17 on an international school trip, somehow managed to get all the way back to London with my teachers freaking out more than I was :P

Been drawing an posting my drawing on the internet for some 10 years. That's not an amazing thing in itself, but finding out every now and then that I've inspired someone else to draw and become interested in the things I am definitely is, especially if they become a bit awestruck and excited at meeting me. Well I am excited at meeting them, who found me and my art worth looking at, and worth motivating them through life!

Teach, Learn, Share

If you could speak some Swedish to me, that would already be more than I could ask for!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm not really sure... I could tell you how I liked Uppsala and Sweden so far, and about Croatia if you're ever thinking of going there. I draw, so maybe my sketchbook? We don't have to interact much if you don't want to, but I definitely won't mind the company!
