About Me

Hello, lovely humans!

You, with your weirdness and confusion and diversity, are my biggest passion. Honest open intense human interaction creates tiny miracles. I consider myself very fortunate to work and live in a unique art hostel*, which gives me the opportunity to really take care of people and make every day a different learning experience, ranging from ''Oh I didn't know Georgia has its own alphabet'' to ''omfg that did not just happen'' and being forever changed by an unlikely amazing chain of events. When I'm not being inspired and mind-blown by the people around me, I enjoy being away and secluded in my little bubble of science, music, books, reddit and all things colourful and heart-shaped. Mindful introspection, eargasms and never-ending wonder about our universe is what keeps me optimistic and excited about life. And of course, my furry best friend ŽuŽu who is with me 24/7 :)
On the grimmer side, I have a tendency to be too relaxed at times and a perfectionist at others. Also hedonism is such a tricky yummy bastard, but I am very close to taming it. I have zero tolerance for egotrips and boring ignorant people, but that probably just stems from my secret semi-conscious fear that I am also boring and ignorant, just really good at pretending I'm not.

*This spring I quit the hostel, because after 3 years of having temporary families that always leave, my heart could not handle being broken anymore. But I am keeping the text above as it is an integral part of my life. After leaving, healing and soul-searching, I realised I want to open my own hostel with a bit wiser approach.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My lifestyle made me addicted to the exploration of our planet through people living on it. Being completely immersed in a new culture while traveling is impossible without an intimate contact with a local. I also prefer to see hidden gems and alternative communities of a city rather than the generic touristy stuff, so I will be definitely asking you about those. If we choose each other right, magic can happen. I value common sense and empathy more than anything, especially when being in someone's home.

Because I am back with my parents after leaving the hostel, I unfortunately cannot accept surfers, but I am always happy to meet up with like-minded souls and share our lives for a moment. I adore Zagreb, it's a gorgeous and lively city, and it warms my heart to have a backpacker experience it with my help and then love it as much. I am patient and will answer any and all questions you might have. Well, maybe not about the war, that annoys the crap out of me. Let's talk about the future.

Interests

C.G.Jung is love. Everything the man did and said is just like.. wow, how can you know all of this, you weird prophet? Synchronisities are a huge aspect of my everyday life. Anything psychology related gives me warm and fuzzy feelings, especially neuropsychology. Astronomy comes in second. But all sciences are the bomb and I discriminate none.

Music is lyf.
Give me concerts, all the time please. I need. I want. I crave.
I used to play instruments as a child, but had horrible teachers who made it boring and uninteresting, and now I've finally sum up the courage to start rebuilding my skills at this ''too late'' age. Currently venturing into proper singing (my shower curtains told me to do it), the piano, ukulele and music theory. Statistically - I have a thing for drummers. I sing in an activist choir which changed my life in the bestest of ways. My musical THE ONE is Jamie Stewart of Xiu Xiu.

Despite the somewhat nerd alert, I love being outdoors and need it to function. I wish I camped more in life. Both the warm summer beach and the cold snowy mountain do it for me.

Languages amaze me constantly, my favourite being Finnish, Icelandic and Welsh because they just sound like a fucking fairytale. Also - wordplay and puns. Stuff of dreams.

I love practicality, especially when it's beautiful at the same time. Colours and shapes and feel-good combinations of them. Clever solutions to even better questions. The potential of humans is infinite, no matter how cheesy it sounds, can't escape from the truth, mate!

Do I sound not boring and ignorant enough by now?
