About Me

I would consider myself minimalist utilitarian. Intrigued by knowledge. Putting a mirror in front of yourself is probably one the hardest things to do I guess. I plan on increasing this bit by asking my friends I meet on this community to add in information by being my mirror.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Philosophically I am a peripatetic soul. I am engulfed with the ideas of Erdös, a mathematician who is famous for travelling to fellow mathematicians in different countries to announce to them "my brain is open". And, indeed this has left a huge impact on me as a human being. "My brain too is open", open to new experiences, people, life styles, cultures, mentalities and behaviours. The concept of couchsurfing is thus something that is closest to my being. Its like a existential element of mine that I can satiate via this network across a global community.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music :

I do not say understand in the sense of comprehension of what the music is trying to "say". With that caveat in place, I usually go for ragas and hindustani classical music by the following musicians : Anoushka Shankar, Amjad Ali Akbar, Ravi Shankar, Bismillah Khan, Nikhil Banerjee, Hariprasad Chaurasia.

I actually have a very eclectic taste but I gravitate more towards music that bring in a sense of Iyashikei ( japanese motif of describing a subtle soothing pleasing sensation) so here a few songs/artists/bands who I listen to :
1) Sigur Ros
2) Cortazar's Beethoves's Silence
3) Buckethead's All in the Waiting
4) Iron n Wine
5) Sufjan Stevens
6) Ryuchi Sakamoto
7) Mogwai
8) Feldberg
9) Mohiner Ghoraguli
10) Naseer Shamma
6) Pink Floyd

Movies :

There is enough for it to be an interesting conversation but not yet sufficient for me to qualify as a cinephile. I would describe myself as someone who goes out of his way to enrich himself with what this medium of art brings. I am certainly at a place where I want more n richer theatrical experiences. I will in the future try and give a broad categorification of the movie genres I'm into.

Books :

Since I am an academic I have to mostly delve in books from academia. But whenever I get free time I try to consume as much philosophy politics as possible. I will also provide a list of books I have made friends with. And, I am well aware I have to really improve in this department.
