About Me

-Intro:
Miami-based starvin' artist with a taste for the unusual and unique. If Im not gritting through the 9-5 then Im usually inundating myself in creative, personal endeavors, feebly trying to make a wave of relevancy in this concrete block of fast cars and plastic (Website: RaggidArt.Com)

- What I’m Doing With My Life:
Everything listed below currently, but what Id REALLY prefer to do is drop everything on that list, buy myself a one way to a lodge on a hilltop and start my graphic novel finally.

-The 6 Things I Could Never Do Without:
Fresh Air, Green Things, Animal Interaction, Intellectual Conversation, Creative Stimuli, Broccoli

I Spend A Lot of Time Thinking About:
Global Warming, My next piece, The mechanical health of my pickup, Old cartoon shows I used to watch, Fishing, The dire state of Tigers

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Im sad to say I haven't done much international travel, but Im trying to change that. Countries I have visited thus far have been Mexico, Costa Rica (twice on the latter) Norway, Denmark and Sweden. I typically prefer to walk the unbeaten path and would rather try roasted grub in the rain forest than sit down at a 5 star. I am a big fan of environmental conservation activism but am not a preacher. Im predominately low-key around folks and easy to get along with. If you love to laugh, we'll be best friends :)

Interests

- I’m Really Good At:
Getting in the Way of Myself, Freelancing, Making Marionettes out of Roadkill, Painting, Drawing, Fulfilling Social Obligations, Campaigning for Trees and Wildlife, Arguing with My Cuban Grandmother About How This is Not Cuba, Perfecting the Art of Crass, Killing Everything in my Organic Garden

Music, Movies, and Books

-Books:
Im sad to say I don't read many books, life gets in the way. I stick to short stories, comics, periodicals, or essays on topics about neuroscience, National Geographic, all that good stuff. Currently trying to make a dent in the complete 2-volume 'Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind' but it is a challenge

-Movies:
BACK TO THE FUTURE, all time fave,
Indiana Jones Trilogy, A.I., Across the Universe, The Science of Sleep, Empire of the Sun, Spartacus (Kirk Douglas version), Akira, Papillon, The Book of Kells, Cinema Paradiso, Anything by Wes Anderson or Quinton Tarantino, Big Trouble in Little China, Watership Down, V for Vendetta, The Thing, Porco Rosso, Paprika, Lawrence of Arabia, Alien, Metropolis (Fritz Lang Version) The Theif and the Cobbler, Eraserhead, Secret of Nihm...I could go on

Shows: I dont watch tv, unless its Face-Off or a documentary, or its AMC for the entire month of October. Then you cant get me away from tv...

Music: I like alot of 80's british punk, New Wave, Swing, French Jazz, Loooove Folk and Bluegrass. Whatever (mostly) is playing on the college radio station WVUM

Food: Thai and Japanese are my vice. I also love things that smell bad, at least I've been told. Anchovies with vinegar, garlic and Brie pleeeeeaaaaaase.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The best experience I've had abroad is when I was suddenly managing a wildlife sanctuary that was only accessible by boat in the Osa Peninsula for a few weeks. We basically lived in a big cage in the rain forest by the shore. I was at the mercy of nature, and at times it was elevating as well as terrifying.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A good hearty laugh, free sketches/watercolors, a taste of that legendary cleaning work ethic we Cubans are known so well for.
