ABOUT ME

I am a world traveler, SCUBA diver, swimmer/biker/runner. I love to sail, hike, and kayak. I am a great listener and love to read and watch movies. Addicted to sudoku. I like to cook yummy, healthy dishes and share them with friends over wine.

PHILOSOPHY

Our minds are much more powerful than we give credit. Positive thoughts and words carry so much weight. And, although the opposite is true, I always strive to find humor in the negative. We're not perfect, why not laugh about it?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Referred by a friend who read my road trip blog and told me about what a great organization this is. Camping is great but I'd much rather share some coffee or a drink with new friends. I also love to cook for people: I make an incredible chicken satay, dumplings (think dim sum...yuuummmm!), and my chocolate chip cookies have driven people to wild fits of cravings. I may have a couch to share depending on what's going on....

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Before joining CS, I have mostly hosted others on my couch whether in San Francisco, Miami Beach or Cayman Islands.

Interests

I love seeing the world from different perspectives. This has manifested into SCUBA diving, paragliding, flying, sailing, snowboarding, biking, running, learning, teaching, listening, talking, cooking and more.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music--Lots of stuff, all of the Marley family, Royal Blood, Phoenix, Foo Fighters, Citizen Cope. I also love hip-hop, jazz (Coltrane, Monk), blues (Etta James), rock.

Books--Atwood, Bukowski, Douglas Adams, Burroughs (both William and Augusten), J.D. Salinger, Jim Carroll, David Sedaris, Irvine Welsh. I loved Janet Fitch's "White Oleander". I love reading about subcultures, find them fascinating.

Movies--I really need to see more movies on the big screen it's been a while,. The Big Lebowski, Spinal Tap, Best in Show, All About Eve, Razor's Edge (Bill Murray version), Surf's Up. Those are movies I can watch again and again and always enjoy them.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seven pods of dolphins jumping at the bow of Clive's catamaran on our sail from Grand Cayman to Cuba on a beautiful Saturday morning. I'll never forget it.
