About Me

Loving, caring human being with a great sense of humor. I am incredibly creative and passionate about my art. Artist, activist, lover, bicycle enthusiast! Always up for adventures. I'm very much involved in my community. You can follow my art @ http://iconosquare.com/veralarias

I have an art studio in Miami where I spend my nights moonlighting new pieces for shows and vending gigs. I make mostly dream catchers made up of recycled bicycle parts. I am also a free-lance graphic designer. Long story short I live out of my art and quite proud of it. In addition to art and graphic design I am also a big bicycle advocate in the community. I teach workshops mainly geared towards women on tools to carry with you on the road and how to make basic repairs ; learning how to change a flat tire.

I use to work at a bicycle shop so I am really great at fixing bicycles. I'm an artist so I'm really good at doing sculptures and drawing. I'm also a really great cook. Cooking is another form of art for me. My favorite foods to cook are Indian and Guatemalan food!

Music, Movies, and Books

I like all music underground. I listen to WVUM 90.5 and NPR.

Movies: Documentaries, anything Bill Murray was ever in, recently saw Interstellar and thought it was amazing, Star Wars, Waking Life, Whale Rider.

Music: Neon Indian, Little Dragon, Death Cab for Cutie, Night Jewel, Odeza, New Wave...
Also enjoy early post punk rock; Midtown, Fugazi, Cap n Jazz, Jets to Brazil, Further Seems Forever, JawBraker, Appleseed Cast

Books: Everything by Herman Hesse , currently reading the auto biography of Assata Shakur, very interested in the genre of lucid dreams, and instructional books on bicycle mechanics.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most of amazing things I've ever done was biking 65 miles, round trip ride, from downtown Miami to FortLauderdale. What made it amazing was the fact that I rode it on a double decker tall bicycle. It was the most fun I've had on a group ride. Half way through the ride it poured really heavy rain on us but we made it through! There was much dancing, laughter, and music along the way. Will never forget it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am an excellent cook. My background is Guatemalan so I can cook you some hella amazing, traditional Guatemalan food. I also make amazing curries! Everything I cook is mainly vegan/ vegetarian but can def. do non vegetarian as well. I'm not vegetarian or vegan but it seems to be my main source of diet:)

In addition to cooking I am also a bicycle mechanic. Have a flat, or a squeeky noise coming out of you bike? Well I can not only fix it for you but can teach you how to do it on your own!

As I mention above I love making art and it is currently my main source of income. I am more than willing to make you a piece of art. My work is mainly jewelry based but can make you one amazing drawing/ painting!

I'm very clean! I am more than happy to wash dishes, sweep, mop, or help out around the house any way that I can. I love being of service:)

What I Can Share with Hosts
