Known as the one of the best music cities in the world, Nashville celebrates its country music roots in a big way. Visitors can dive into the music culture with a visit to the Grand Ole Opry, the Johnny Cash Museum, or the Country Music Hall of Fame, where you can see Elvis’s gold Cadillac and a collection of guitars that have been strummed by some of the greatest country musicians of all time. Check out a couple of legendary Nashville institutions at Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge or the Bluebird café, where a handful of singer/songwriters sit in the center of the room and take turns belting out their tunes for the audience.
Be sure to make time to see the Parthenon, an impressive full-scale replica of the Greek Parthenon in Athens, complete with a towering statue of Athena covered in gold foil. When you’ve worked up an appetite, track down some “hot chicken,” a local specialty of fried chicken breaded with a bend of flour, spices, and cayenne pepper.
