Winnipeg is the capital and largest city of the Canadian province of Manitoba, and its skyline rises out of the miles of surrounding prairies in an almost unexpected way. Visitors can begin at The Forks, a large stretch of riverside real estate that features a bustling market, skate park, children’s play area, water park, and extensive skating trails. Walk across the Red River on the Esplanade Riel, Winnipeg’s iconic cable-stayed pedestrian bridge, for a great photo opportunity of the river and the city.

For an educational and emotional experience, visit the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, where you’ll find compelling stories of human struggles from around the world, all leading to the Tower of Hope and its incredible views of Winnipeg. Make your way to the Assiniboine Zoo to walk under the glass dome of the seal and polar bear exhibits and lay eyes on some very rare species like red pandas and snow leopards. To cap off an eventful day, join the locals at the beloved Bridge Drive-In for an old-fashioned milkshake or hot fudge sundae.
