Born in the outskirts of a small town in Belgium I have always been passionate about outdoors, sports and nature. After finishing my Masters in the University of Ghent I relocated to Chennai, India in 1998 for work. Impressed by the natural beauty of the Indian subcontinent I have traveled extensively on my Royal Enfield motorcycle across India from the Western Ghats of Kerala to the mighty Himalayas covering 50.000 kms.

In 2008 I started the Chennai Trekking Club (www.chennaitrekkers.org) - a non-profit, volunteer based platform to connect adventurous souls passionate about the outdoors. We organize regular wilderness treks through jungles and mountains. This year the group crossed 25 thousand members and we organize hundreds of events throughout the year. We organize treks, biking trips, mountain biking, trail running, open water swimming on most weekends of the year to create awareness on a more active and healthy lifestyle. We organize the Chennai Trail Marathon and Javadhu Hills Ultra in which 1000-s of runners participate each year. We have also organized numerous Triathlons including an Iron Distance Tri.

Our group is also passionate about nature and conservation and has planted 4000 trees in and around the city. Every year we organize the Chennai Coastal Cleanup in which 5000 volunteers from 100+ organizations, NGOs, schools join hands together to remove 50 tons of garbages from 20km coastline of Chennai. We also periodically organize "social treks" for the less privileged where we take out orphan, HIV, poor.... kids from various orphanages in the city on a 1 day hiking adventure.

In recent years I have become passionate about Ultra Hill/Trail running, completing 60 Ultras / 3000km in 2015 including 1000+km in the Himalayas. I am also an avid mountain biker and have done various "tours" on cycle and feet across India and Southeast Asia for multiple weeks carrying own camping gears.
