Born and raised on a farm in Belgium, settled in India since 1998. I love travelling in the outdoors: ultra running, open water swimming, mountain hiking, cycle touring, free diving and scuba diving. I worked as a project manager in Cisco, India for 2 decades until I quit my job in 2017 living a more minimalist lifestyle in the mountains and exploring the Himalayas (check my blog: ultrajourneys.org or instagram.com/petervangeit).

I love going on month long exploration journeys in remote corners of the Himalayas with a lightweight pack, indulge in natural beauty and stay with mountain tribes and shepherds, falling asleep next to a warm campfire while gazing at the milky way in the dark night sky. I teach people on alpine style exploration in the Himalayas.

In 2008 I founded the Chennai Trekking Club (CTC), a 40 thousand member non profit volunteer organisation in South India which organises outdoor, sports, environmental and social events. We cleaned up tons of garbage from the beaches with tens of thousands of volunteers over a decade, did rescue, relief and rehabilitation during natural disasters like the 2015 Chennai floods and 2018 Gaja cyclone in South India.

Right now traveling the world on foot and wheels moving along with the seasons. Love hiking the mountains in summer and diving the oceans in winter.
