Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Long term: to die happy, fulfilled and surrounded by friends. Short term: find a job.
ABOUT ME
All about me in this little box? Hey, I've been trying to get out of my box for almost 60 years! Ah, well, all you really need to know it that I strive for peace and kindness in my life, I value my relationships, I have an enormous sense of responsibility, I have a great sense of humor when I can remember to laugh at myself, and I'm a hopeless romantic.
PHILOSOPHY
Live life fully and honorably. As the Dalai Lama says, "Kindness is my religion." I'm working on it anyway.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My CS experience has been limited to hosting and that has been brought me into contact with some very interesting, very nice people from Europe and other parts of the U.S. (looking forward to meeting folks from other parts of the globe too). Most of the CS requests come through my partner Anika AllySun who is usually the main contact for these things -- check her out!
Interests
Fine dining, dancing, casual dining, conversation, good fast food, reading, simple Italian cooking, hiking, Northeastern comfort food, classic movies, pizza, partying, Thai and Vietnamese food, working, street fair food, nature... did I mention I like to cook and eat? Oh, yes -- and red wine to go with both.

Music, Movies, and Books
Classic Film Noir, science fiction, mysteries. The entire Mark Twain oeuvre; best last books read: Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein (fiction), Mark Twain: Man in White: The Grand Adventure of His Final Years by Michael Shelden. My taste in music is fairly eclectic ranging from classical and early swing (one of my favorite movies is "Stormy Weather") to current folk and rock. Not so excited by hip-hop and rap but there's good stuff there too.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Probably the most amazing thing I've ever seen is still vivid for me after almost 30 years -- my new born daughter. A close second would be riding out Typhoon Pamela on the island of Guam in 1977.
Teach, Learn, Share
We are all teachers and we are all students of life. Even after 60+ years I'm pretty humble about what I think I have to teach and I always know I can learn more...
