Originally a Viking fishing village in the 10th century, Copenhagen has developed into one of the trendiest cities in Europe. Copenhagen is filled with super-hip bars, boutiques with a quirky fashion sense, and highly-rated restaurants changing the culinary world with “New Nordic” cuisine. Begin any trip to Copenhagen down by the harbor to see the Gefion Fountain and the Little Mermaid statue, perhaps the most famous symbol of this seafaring city.

Take a stroll along the waterfront of Nyhavn, lined by brightly-colored bars, restaurants, and cafes with historical wooden ships resting in the water along the canal. Bring out the kid in you by visiting Tivoli Gardens, the second-oldest amusement park in the world with a wide variety of rides and attractions. For a trip outside of the city, take a bus or train across the Øresund Bridge all the way to the Swedish city of Malmo. And if you plan to return to Copenhagen after discovering Malmo, mix things up by taking the ferry back across the Øresund Strait.
