Vancouver is a dense, modern city in British Columbia, but its greatest appeal is in its natural surroundings. Visitors can spend time in the city by visiting Chinatown, one of the largest in North America, or heading to trendy Yaletown for its buzzing nightlife scene. Wander around the neighborhood of Granville Island, where former factories are now home to trendy restaurants, theaters, and galleries.
After that, it’s time to take in the great outdoors. In the warmer months, take a trip to Kitsilano Beach to hang out with the locals playing volleyball, skating, or swimming in the heated Kitsilano Pool. Rent a bike and pedal down the Seawall that hugs Vancouver’s waterfront at Stanley Park for some spectacular views of both the city and the sea. Test your nerves at one of Vancouver’s oldest and most popular attractions, the Capilano Suspension Bridge. It’s 450 feet long and 230 feet high, but the views are often thought to be worth the risk.
