Raleigh is North Carolina’s capital and one of the fastest-growing cities in the United States. Surrounded by an excellent landscape and bathed in southern sun, visitors might enjoy spending a lot of their time in Raleigh outdoors. Visit Pullen Park and rent a paddle boat to take in the scenery from the lake or ride the historic carousel, built around 1900. Hop on the Raleigh Greenway to join locals in getting some exercise in the fresh air.
Sports fans will enjoy the atmosphere at PNC Arena, when the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes take the ice. Raleigh isn’t home to many top-level sports teams, but the ‘Canes fans are a loyal and rowdy bunch. After the game, celebrate victory (or drown defeat) at the Raleigh Beer Garden, where the 366 beers on taps have officially claimed the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest beer selection.
